Vegetable Gardens Tips

1.     Choose the space for your vegetable gardens.  It should be an area that gets at least 8 hours of direct sunlight, to maximize your vegetable production.  Make sure that the area does indeed get its full share of sunlight during growing season; if it happens to be surrounded by trees, you may want to prune.  Sunlight is needed so that your vegetable plants will bear plenty of sweet fruits.  You can plant your garden based on the space you have available.  If you have smaller spaces, plant vegetables in containers rather than in beds.
2.    if you will be using your own garden soil instead of purchasing some from your local gardening supplies shop, you will need to get a soil test kit so that you can determine your soil’s condition and make amendments to make it suitable for vegetable growing.  Otherwise, you can simply buy some good gardening dirt and use it all over your vegetable gardens as topsoil.
3.    Beginning gardeners might fare better by buying seedlings from your local nurseries.  Starting from seeds is also an option, but it will take some effort and expertise to grow healthy, robust seedlings from seeds.  Healthy and robust seedlings are necessary in order to have vegetable plants that will produce a good harvest.
4.    Water your plants properly.  If you are watering while the sun is burning hot, water the root systems and not the leaves or they will burn.  Do not water plants after sundown since this encourages root fungi and rot.  Water vegetable gardens consistently; the soils should always be moist, but not wet.
5.    Maintain your garden by pulling any weeds growing around your vegetable plants.  Trim away any dead or damaged leaves to encourage new growth in your vegetable gardens.
